ELLIS, John (? - 1888)
Lithographer, engraver and designer, was active in Toronto by 1847. In 1884, he worked for Alexander, Clare & Cable of Toronto as engraver of “heraldry, crests, arms, maps, plans, and elevations.” He is probably the same person as John Ellis Jr. of Toronto who was awarded a prize for heraldic painting in 1866.
